The thing about SGA is that everyone is represented. If you like your brainiacs paired together, there’s McKay Zelenka; if you like a little athleticism with your nerd, you can go butch, het, or flyboy.

And if you go Spike, you get an image like this: He shifts a little, arms tightening around Rodney with the inexorability of a boa constrictor lovingly digesting a Volkswagen Beetle.

Pirates in the Green Room

A combination of meta and LJ in-joke, but really quite funny.

Rec: SGA: Small Primes and Square Roots, by Livia
Small Primes and Square Roots, by liviapenn, part one and part two.

Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Author: Livia
Characters/Pairings: John, Rodney, McKay/Sheppard
Other info: AU, kid!fic.
Summary: "I hope you picked someone really intelligent, otherwise it seems like it would be kind of a waste. Of incubation time, if nothing else."

When I started my Deli.cio.us bookmarks and began madly tagging SGA fics, I added in a tag called favorites so that I would be able to find the fics I really liked more easily. I consider this to be a fairly elite tag; anything I tag I'd recommend to the world at large, but anything that's a favorite is something I dearly love and go back to often. So to get us started in this comm, I'm planning to rec all my favorite SGA fics.

Now that I've explained that, the actual rec.

Firstly, and here I am putting off the rec part again, I absolutely love AU fic. I really do think that there's an alternative universe out there for every decision we make, or every possible chance that may or may not occur. So fics about this absolutely delight me. While I don't mind reading fic that's AU in the sense of "so Rodney plays concert piano and John is his page turner" [okay maybe not that particular fic], I much prefer AU fic in the sense of "here's another way things might have happened for these characters." This fic is very much aware that in some other timeline, these characters went other ways, and the acknowledgement of it is one of the things I like best about the fic.

I also love Rodney's parenting. I think his style is totally in character [and John's reaction is, too!] and endearing as hell.

Okay, it is time for breakfast as I seem to have run out of steam. jenna_thorn, pick up for me? :)

HP Anita Blake

Edward is hired to protect Harry. He takes on a minor side job just for the challenge. SHe may make this a series and I'd love to read the rest.

Feed the fairies
It's a wide and wonderful world out there and we know that we see only a small corner of it.

Who should we read? What fic is out there that you know of that we don't but needs to be read by more people? Do you know of a new author who is doing lovely work but not being read? Drop us a comment here and we'll take a look.

Please include a link to the story and give us the fandom. We'll take our chances on all the rest.
